Due to the public health emergency caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the filing and payment deadline for the Louisiana state sales tax February 2020 period is extended to May 20, 2020. The original due date was March 20, 2020. This is an automatic extension and no extension request is necessary. Taxpayers cannot utilize the Sales Tax Online filing system to take advantage of this filing and payment extension relief for the Louisiana state sales tax return. State sales tax returns and payments submitted after March 20, 2020 must be submitted via Louisiana Taxpayer Access Point (LaTAP) at or by paper filing to be granted this extension. All electronic filing and payment mandates contained within Title 61 of the Louisiana Administrative Code relative to state sales tax are temporarily suspended. No penalties will be assessed for a taxpayer’s failure to file a state sales tax return electronically or remit state sales tax by electronic funds transfer. Refer to Revenue Information Bulletin 20-008 .
